2023 Fall Outfit Inspo

Okay, fall is the best season for fashion. Nothing beats putting on your favorite sweater. I am in love with the trends going on right now because they’re very focused on comfort. Baggy & oversized is in and I am here for it!! You mean my jeans can be loose and I’m on trend? Sign me up!

The title says 2023 trends, but I am not into fast fashion, as clothes are expensive, and we want to buy things that are going to be staples in our closet. So, that’s what I am here to give you: classic, high quality recs that will help you build your capsule wardrobe, while keeping you cozy & well styled for fall & winter seasons to come.

Basics

Before we can get into layers, we need to start with good basics. Last year living in the mountains, I really started to see how essential a basic base layer is. When it begins to get really cold outside, nothing keeps me warmer than my base layer. Also it’s nice to be able to shed your sweater when you get into the heated indoors.

Everlane Micro Rib Turtleneck- I am a sucker for a turtleneck as a base layer!
I could drop a lot of money at Abercrombie, and you're about to see my obsession with everything that they sell; they make high-quality capsule pieces that are always on trend.
Abercrombie body suits though!
John Galt Thermal- I love JG basics, they're 100% cotton, so comfortable & hold up in the wash
Sweaters

As if sweaters couldn’t get anymore cozy, now we’re wearing them oversized! Cardigans too! I am so in love with this look– enough said!

Grey Bandit is an online boutique that I loveee & is worn by many of the cute influencer girlies on insta. Particularly in love with their knits! I own this one 🙂
Oh hey it's me in one of my fav sweaters that Princess Polly still sells!
Quince 100% Cashmere Cardigan: I've heard only good things about Quince-- the highest quality materials at reasonable prices for those materials
I found about about Sezane this year & oh em gee! Their sweaters are definitely a treat-yo-self purchase, but you will feel like a sophisticated French woman in their clothes.
Sweater vests & poplin shirts

These are going in the same category because I love to pair them together. I have always been a fan of a vest, so I am happy to see them getting the love that they deserve. I have been rocking this combo for a few falls now & it’s still kickin’. The cropped poplin is the new take that’s making an appearance this fall & I am a fan!

Madewell Vest: saw this in the store myself & loved it!
Princess Polly Vest: Bought a different PP sweater vest 2 seasons ago that I wear religiously
Madewell Signature Poplin: Madewell makes a mean poplin shirt
This is a Madewell section basically lol, but I am in love with this crop!
Hoodies/crew necks/quarter zips

These deserve their own section, because you really can’t have enough of these & you need all the different styles, right? I feel like once in my life I would never pay more than 50$ for a sweatshirt, but man a good quality sweatshirt becomes such a staple in your wardrobe, I meann think about how often you throw on your sweatshirts to do anything.

Abercrombie Crew: Abercrombie has such soft sweatshirts & I could fill this section with just their current inventory, but I'll refrain.
Abercrombie Half-zip: comfort meets cute!
Gotta include the Lulu Scuba!
Tna by Aritzia has great quality loungewear!
Jeans

Again, baggy is in, but if baggy isn’t your thing, I get it, but definitely look for looser fitting or just straight leg jeans, because once you make this transition, you will probably never go back to tight jeans. I really only wear Abercrombie jeans– iykyk & if you didn’t know, ya welcome! & Also classic Levi’s!

Abercrombie 90's Relaxed Jean: Own 'em, love 'em!
Abercrombie Loose Jean
Levi's Baggy Dad Jean: Have these, obsessed, size down, maybe by 2!!
Levi's Rib Cage Full Length

Trousers y’all! If you haven’t pulled the trigger on a trendy pair of trousers, DO IT! It’s a dressed-up way to wear comfy pants, if you’re doing it right.

I have the tailored short from Abercrombie, so I’m linking the tailored trouser because I know they're amazing
A classic crop if you're not into the baggy look!
PP petit trouser- reviews are great! p.s. never pay full price for PP, they always have a ton of sales going on!
Aritzia has a lot of great (pricier) options for all things work wear!
Skirts & Dresses

This is actually a big one to cover, a lot is going on with skirts. I am loving a silk maxi skirt with a sweater & a pair of tall boots. You can also get a silk maxi dress & layer it, that way it has multiple purposes. Sweater dresses, always! Denim maxi skirts! At first I was out on this trend, but it has grown on me & I want one. Skorts! Can y’all believe that skorts are making a come back? & I am so excited, because comfort!!

100% washable silk!
Affordable, great reviews, in my cart!
Obsessed with a pleated skort!
With tights & tall boots, yes!
Outerwear

The best for last. I am a sucker for great outerwear, another reason fall is the best fashion season. Jackets & coats might be my love language?? Particularly obsessed with blazers, oversized bombers, & puffers. Princess Polly really kills the trendy jacket game.

I have a leather blazer jacket like this, but in fake leather, wish I waited for this real leather one!
I love the broad shoulders in this, size down by 2, from experience!
Love the -you took your Dad's vintage coat- look.
Vibing with this cherry red oversized puffer!

General trends I have been seeing particularly this season: Brenton (thin) stripes, the color cherry red, cargo pockets, school girl aesthetic.

Here are some examples I made of how I would style the clothes above <3 See how you could mix & match it all!?

Don’t forget my Fall Shoe Recs page to go with all your new clothes! And as always, if these clothes are out of your price range, just use them for inspiration. Xoxo JWTR.
